Palma.—Leading international credit card company VISA was splashing the cash around Palma yesterday as it filmed a major television commercial in various locations around the city.

Over 100 people took part in the production yesterday around Avenida Jaume III, Paseo Mallorca and Parc de Ses Estacions including 60 crew members and 30 locally recruited extras who will be the stars of the production.

Other locations included Son Vida and there were plans to film in Orient as well.
VISA was keeping tight lipped on the budget for the commercial but it does not appear to have been hit by the credit crunch.
The advert was filmed in association with Palma Pictures, a Majorca-based company that since the early 90's has produced over 750 TV commercials and over 20 documentaries and TV programmes and has been awarded with several honours for their contribution to local tourism and economy.

In 2003 they received the prize for Enterprise of the year, Best innovation company and Best expanding of the year by national radio station Cadena Cope.

Other companies that use Palma Pictures to their benefit include mobile phone giants Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile sports multi- nationals Adidas, and Nike.

BMW, Ford and French cosmetic company L'Oreal have also worked with them in the past.
Founded in 2000, the Swedish owned studios pride themselves for their multi- nationality staff and ability to speak over 10 languages including English, Spanish, Japanese, Dutch, German and French.
