PALMA
BRITISH composer, blues singer and guitarist - John Mayall - has given his backing to the application that the Balearic government is making to UNESCO to have the Tramuntana mountains listed as a cultural heritage site.

Mayall signed on the dotted line yesterday after his Friday night concert at Palma's Auditorium along with other prestigious musical artists such as Juan Perro and the Franz Ferdinand group.

The Council of Majorca issued a statement saying that it is of vital importance that people living on or associated with the island give their backing to the application to UNESCO.

Mayall was the founding father of the group, The Bluesbreakers, and collaborated with guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor.
