MAJORCA'S Bloc coalition spokesman, Eberhard Grosske, said yesterday that each citizen in Palma who has no form of income should be guaranteed a minimum sum each month.
Speaking during the State of Palma debate at City Hall, Grosske said that the aim is that there shouldn't be a single home in Palma where there is no regular income. The move, he said, is prompted by the economic crisis currently being faced by many families. Grosske proposed an aggressive policy of home-buying by the Council so that home can he rented out to those who most need them.
Grosske recognised that with the best will in the world Palma Council simply didn't have enough money to undertake all the social work it will have to when unemployment soars once again at the end of the tourist season. For this reason, he said, action has to be taken now.
