PALMA police were yesterday continuing their hunt for an armed man after a shooting at a bar in the Son Gotleu neighbourhood of the city earlier in the day. According to eyewitnesses and clients inside the busy Media Peseta bar, the shooting was sparked by an argument outside the establishment in calle San Leandro . Apparently, two men, one being the shooter, had been seen outside the bar at around 11am.
The two eventually parted, one went into the bar for a coffee and the other, it transpired moments later, to his home nearby to get a shotgun.
The wanted man then stormed into the bar and fired a shot into the roof, off which the bullet ricocheted and blew apart a wine bottle.
Eyewitness said the target fled the bar via the rear exit and the armed man drove away from the scene at speed in a BMW.
National and Local police units rushed to the scene and yesterday afternoon, both forces were hunting for the armed man who, according to detectives, is known to the police. Members of the 112 emergency service treated a number of clients in the bar at the time of the shooting for shock although, fortunately, nobody was injured.
