l IT was a night and a day that Real Mallorca fans will never forget.
Real Mallorca's King's Cup success as they beat Recreativo Huelva 3-0 in Saturday's final was still being celebrated yesterday, almost 36 hours after the final whistle. Victorious Real Mallorca arrived back on the island early on Sunday morning. Waiting for the team at the airport was a small army of fans as the squad, led by captain Miguel Angel Nadal, boarded an open top bus for a victory tour of Palma. The city was like a sea of red. Thousands of people gathered in the Plaza de las Tortugas, just off Jaime III, where footballing triumphs are celebrated. For the last few years it has been supporters of mainland teams who have dived into the fountain there, but on Sunday, it was the turn of the local supporters. Real Mallorca were given a fantastic reception. Yesterday, a further victory took place with the team visiting the offices of the city council, and the Council of Majorca. Certainly, an historic two days in the history of Majorca and its local football club.
