Three jailed for illegally issuing paperwork for foreigners

A civil servant working at the Foreigner´s Department in Palma was sentenced to jail yesterday for illegally issuing residence and work permits in return for a hefty bribe. Two other people were also jailed. The court heard that the three received bribes of up to 4'000 euros for illegally issuing paperwork for foreign workers. The court heard that the civil servant worked alongside a woman who would contact the foreign worker and another man who would produce the false paperwork. All three accepted jail terms of about one year each. The government has launched a full investigation into the whole affair.
