PALMA
AIRLINES operating in the Balearics have warned the Government that the increase in fuel costs is going to have an effect on ticket price.
For this reason, the airlines have called on the state-owned company that runs Spain's airports, AENA, to freeze taxes and tariffs. The sector is also calling for greater participation by Spain's autonomous governments and the private sector in the running of the country's airport.

Representatives of Air Berlin, Spanair, Iberia, Air Nostrum and Air Europa met with the Minister for Transport, Gabriel Vicens, and the Director General of Transport, Joana Maria Amengual, earlier this week to analyse the current situation in the airline industry in the Balearics. Speaking after the meeting, Vicens said it was important that measures were taken “to avoid a rise in the price of tickets and to guarantee the continuance of routes from the Balearics to the mainland”.
