Weekend activities were crowd pleasers

ONCE again, the Majorcan weekend offered something for everyone, with activities ranging from catching ducks to admiring the daredevil antics of top motorcyclists at the bullring in Palma. And for the energetic, there was the annual walk from Palma to Lluc monastery on Saturday night. An estimated 12'000 people set off at about 8.30pm, but barely a third of them covered the full 48 kilometres to the monastery, where they received medical attention if needed, and a well deserved rest. The duck catching contest was one of the highlights in Colonia de Sant Jordi, and it was the youngest competitors who fared the best.
The motorcycle spectacle was the first of its kind held at the bullring and sponsores were delighted at the results.
