THE Balearic government has awarded a grant of more than 750'000 euros to ASPANOB (Parents of Children with Cancer) for the purchase of land in Binissalem to be used as a centre to give a breathing space to families. The agreement was signed yesterday by deputy leader Rosa Estaras and chairman of ASPANOB, Jaume Coll, who thanked the government for their help. The land was purchased last year, through a mortgage. Coll said it was very important to have a space “where families and children can meet and exchange experiences.” He added that volunteers were developing sports activities, coaching to help patients recover lost schooling and psychological support. Coll said there are an average of 40 new cases a year.
