THE Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs yesterday confirmed that the body of missing Majorcan hiker Lourdes Morro who was caught up in the severe floods and landslides with her husband in the Ladakh region of north India.

The results of the autopsy carried out on the body yesterday confirmed it was that of the missing Majorcan and the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi is doing all it can to help the family repatriate the body.

Morro was camped in the Hinju Valley with her husband Rafael Roca on August 6 when they were swept away by a huge landslide caused by the torrential rains which have hit the region and parts of Pakistan claiming thousands of lives.

Roca was found two days later suffering from a serious leg injury and was airlifted to a hospital in New Delhi.
He was discharged last Sunday.
Morro's father flew out to the search area as soon as he was informed that his daughter was missing and helped the local authorities and search teams in the hunt for his missing daughter. After one false alarm, the Spanish and French mounted a joint operation which appears to have been the one which finally found Morro's body.
