COACH drivers staged a noisy protest at the carpark by the arrivals terminal at Son Sant Joan airport at mid-day and at 7pm yesterday.
They sounded the horns of their coaches to back claims for safer roads in the Balearics.
Union officials Juan Gallardo and Antonio Ramos explained that there were black points which endanger the safety of coach drivers and their passengers, such as the Sa Calobra road, Coll de sa Batalla, Formentor or the Puig de Sant Salvador.
The unions accused the administrations of being “passive” and said that the road safety committee which had been set up was useless.
A spokesman said it was all very well for the authorities to say they had no money, or had to send it to Madrid, because they always had money to sponsor cycling teams, underground railways and other “Pharoah like infrastructures” but very little when it came to safety.
