TWO HELD IN CONNECTION WITH SUSPECTED PALMA GANG SHOOTING

TWO men were yesterday being questioned in connection with the killing of 45-year-old Josefa Moreno Cortes, alias “La Parrala”, who was shot in the head at her home in the Son Banya shanty town on the outskirts of Palma on Monday night.

The two suspects are brothers and police are also hunting for their girlfriends.
One of the brothers was being questioned at the National Police headquarters while the other was under police guard in Son Dureta Hospital.
He was apparently shot in the shoulder during the shooting as “La Parrala” tried to defend herself.
Police sources said yesterday that various shots were fired and that two revolvers and a box of ammunition were seized during the arrests.
The victim was well known in Son Banya and connected to the famous “La Paca” gypsy gang.
