STAFF REPORTER A SEAFRONT promenade is to be built running the entire length of the harbour in Portopetro, Santanyi, the regional Ministry for the Environment announced yesterday.

After decades without any major investment in Portopetro, the Balearic Ports Authority which reports to the minsitry, is to invest nearly 592'000 euros in the project, said its Vice-president Manual Patiño. “The works are to begin this winter and are expected to be be complete within three months,” he confirmed. Patiño explained that one of the main reasons for the footpath development is to preserve some of the most charming characteristics of what was once an old fishing village. Building materials used in the project will match those already in the port to achieve complete integration of design.
