THE Spanish Interior Minister, Alfredo Perez Rubalcada, yesterday unveiled plans for a nationwide crack down on prostitution.
Over the past few weeks there have been a number of prostitution-related incidents in various parts of the country - not least the death of the 44-year-old British holiday maker Tony Charnock last week after he was attacked with a baseball bat during a fight in Magalluf. Only this week, a major clamp down was ordered in the centre of Barcelona and the Spanish government is now mounting a nationwide war on prostitution and the mafias involved.

According to the Interior Minister, nearly 90 percent of prostitutes operating in Spain are working for mafias and organised gangs of human traffickers.
