STAFF REPORTER THE largest gathering of Harley Davidson motorbikes and riders ever seen on Majorca is going to take place at the Son Bugadellas industrial estate in Calvia between 14th and 17th October.

Entitled Majorca Hogrock 2010, there will reportedly be a full programme of activities associated with the event. According to organisers, Majorca is “experiencing a considerable increase in the number of visits of bikers from other parts of Europe”. The popularity of “biking festivals” is now being considered as a branch of tourism that is yet to be properly explored. In fact, along with Harley Davidson enthusiasts from all over Spain, England and Germany, riders of other sorts of motorbikes are expected from all over Europe.

Activities will kick off with a guided tour of the island on the 14th October, free trials of Harley Davidson models, concerts by Majorcan groups and the singer Jaime Anglada, a fashion parade, a motorbike “sexy wash” and competitions highlighting the trick-riding skills of the bikers. Sunday 17th October will finish with a traditional bikers' national flag parade.
