The local environmental group, GOB, reminded the Andraitx council yesterday that it has two months to demolish 24 flats which were built illegally in the Cala Llamp, scenic spot in the port.
GOBsaid in a statement yesterday that in the summer of 2005 the council had given planning permission for the development which was later withdrawn. The council was ordered to demolish the flats.
But according to the environmentalists, Andraitx has attempted to delay the court order.
“The Andraitx council has no option other than to demolish the flats at once because this was a ruling handed down by a Balearic government,” said GOB in a statement. Other councils, faced with similar court orders, have said that they do not have the necessary funds to pay for the costly operation.
