THE Balearic government has promised financial aid to the Port of Valldemossa, which was devastated by a tornado on Wednesday.
It uprooted trees and caused significant damage to boats and around 50 houses. Three brigades from Ibanat, the nature protection service, were at work in the port yesterday, using chain saws to remove trees which had fallen across roofs and across roads. Deputy leader Rosa Estaras and minister of the interior José Mariá Rodriguez visited the port yesterday, talking to neighbours and promising aid, although they declined to set a figure, preferring to wait for an official evaluation. Requests for aid, with photos and a budget, should be submitted to the town hall.
