RESTAURANTS, bars and cafés in the Balearics affiliated to the small business associatons, Pimem and CAEB, have decided to work together in a search for solutions to their sector's deepening crisis. Falling returns are blamed on the effects of the everwidening offers of all-inclusive hotels on the Islands over the last few years .
Both associations came to this accord yesterday following a meeting between the two presidents, Joan Miralles and Antoni Mas. They discussed a programme aimed at improving the sector's current low returns, such as putting a limit on what can be offered by all-inclusive hotels at which guests can currently holiday paying for all their food and drink (including alcohol) in advance. They also advocated putting a legal limit on the number of such establishments on the Islands. Petitions have been raised against the all inclusive.
