Technology park reports first “Green shoots” of economic recovery

NEW technology companies are the only ones which are creating jobs in the Balearic Islands, said regional Economy Minister, Carles Manera, yesterday.
Manera confirmed that the regional government is going to do everything it can to boost the growth of the industry, much of which is based at the Parc Bit technology and recycling park. He said that his ministry's short term aim is to double the number of new technology companies “because we can see that it is the only sector of the economy where there are unmistakably green shoots appearing.” During the present Balearic government, Parc Bit has become a veritable melting pot for businesses related to emerging technology and has resulted in the establishment of clusters and markets for cutting edge products which have contributed noticeably to the Balearic Gross Product (PIB).
