Palma.—This week the Rotary Club of Calvià had the pleasure of our annual visit from District Governor, Sra Graciela Waen, accompanied by Balearics chief Pancho Roses.
Not only was it an opportunity to discuss plans for the in-coming Rotary year under the Presidency of Diego Fuster, but the meeting saw the formal inauguration of two new members, Michael Hegelbach and Henry Fischer. But without doubt, the highlight of the meeting was the presentation by the Governor of the Paul Harris Award to long-time Rotary member, Geoff Moore. This is the highest award given to a Rotary member, and reflects the huge amount of dedication and sheer hard work given to Rotary, and adherence to the Rotary principal of “service above self”. In its 20 years, few other members of the Calvià Rotary Club have received this award. They are Peter Nicholas, the Founder of the Club, Edward Ingram, Monique Leon and the sadly deceased Laurie Martell.
