Investigation groups at risk

Almost half of the university investigation groups in the country are at risk of disappearing. Nine universities, part of the G9 group that comprises the Balearics, Basque country, Zaragoza, Castilla La Mancha, Navarra, Extremadura, Cantabria, La Rioja and Oviedo, asked the governement yesterday for a bigger investment in the area, warning that “the country cannot progress without this type of activities.”
“The consequences will be disastrous,” said a spokesman for the group adding that the cuts could mean the work of thousands of investigation teams over the last 20 years would have been in vain.
