FRIDAY night witnessed an event in Bunyola which will be remembered for many months to come. Some one hundred participants, mainly men, took part in the town's first Underwear Race as part of the Sant Mateu fiestas. Preparations for the race were accompanied by beer drinking in order to give the runners a sense of courage and cover up their embarrasment. The organisers warned they would not be responsible for any incidents during the event but none was reported. The success of the occasion has ensured it will be staged again next year.
