AN exhibition marking the 80th birthday of German artist Erwin Bechtold, who has lived in Ibiza since 1958, opens today at the Es Baluard museum at the end of the Paseo Mallorca. It will remain open until January. The exhibition comprises 74 works, including canvases, works on paper and etchings, from two periods, 1957 to 1961 and 1998 to 2004, on loan from public and private collections in Germany, Palma and Barcelona. It includes a montage, Destruction-Construction, made expressly for the museum's Sala Aljub, which is accompanied by a musical composition by Josep M. Mestres Quadreny.
