GAYNOR Enright better known on the island's entertainment circuit as singer Gee Carmichael handed over an impressive donation of 500 euros for the Help for Heroes charity to Simon and Wendy Peters at the Hotel Son Matias on Wednesday evening.

Gaynor, whose day job is nursery teacher at the Baleares International College told the Bulletin how she and husband Neil raised the money. “We decided to donate one euro from every sale of my CD An Island Dream, so from end of August 2009 that's what we've done. “The reason we chose this charity is that my husband's nephew Sean Enright is a Lance Corporal in 5 Rifles; he went in as a boy soldier six years ago and since then has done two tours in Iraq. He is due to go to Afghanistan next year. “Neil's son Keelan is also joining the army at the end of this month; he's been accepted and will start his basic training at Catterick on October 31st.” Gaynor and her family have always been involved in fundraising, indeed her father, Tony Smith, who is also an entertainer recently raised £360 for H4H in one night in his hometown of Sheffield.

Neil comments: “We have been gratified by the public's response; everyone wants to contribute to Help for Heroes. “Many people give extra when they buy the CD and one guy gave us thirty euros; he wanted to donate the rest to H4H. “It's been a wonderful experience, a great thing to do and even though it may sound like a cliché it is nice to give something back.”

THE FUTURE
Gaynor agrees, “If you have a talent then why not use it to benefit others; these servicemen and women need our help and there but for the grace of God… look at our family, we don't know what's going to happen in the future.” Gaynor and Neil's H4H fundraising will continue with Gaynor's latest CD My Life.
If you wish to purchase either of her CDs and contribute to the Help for Heroes charity Gaynor can be found on Wednesday evenings at Hotel Son Matias in Magalluf.
