NATIONAL Police in Mancor said yesterday that their officers were investigating an armed robbery which took place at a gaming hall in Manacor on Sunday night.

First reports, said police sources, were that the attack by two masked raiders wielding a gun and a large knife, took place at 11.30pm at a premises in the multi-cinema area of Manacor. Having threatened the gaming hall staff, the robbers escaped with relatively little - between 250 and 300 euros. Witnesses were not able to ascertain in which direction the men subsequently fled.

The Local Police were first alerted to the attack and National Police were informed. Several units sped to the site of the robbery arriving within just a few minutes.

Victims of the attack were interviewed whilst the forensic department looked for fingerprint marks on the machines and doors. It would appear the thieves had worn gloves, leading investigators to believe they may have been experienced and been watching the gaming hall some time before the attack.
