THE Corte Inglés department stores in key cities in Spain will be promoting the Majorcan sausage sobrasada over the next three months in a campaign aimed at getting it nationally recognised as a regional quality product.
Mateu Castello, President of Majorca's Sobrasada Regulatory Board presented the promotion yesterday accompanied by Corte Inglés External Relations Director, Antonio Sanchez and Spain's TV chef, Toni Pinya.
Castello explained that a series of fine food seminars will be held in the restaurants of El Corte Inglés department stores in Catalonia, Madrid, Valencia and Seville. The seminars will provide a brief history to attendees of the history of Majorca's sobrasada along with tastings which will differentiate the Balearic product from others originating in various parts of Spain.
Agricultural director Maria Jose Suasi said yesterday that getting Majorca's sobrasada recognised at a national level is key to enabling the product to enter a highly competitive quality food market.
