Staff reporter ONE person was killed and five people, including a seven-year-old girl, were injured in a spate of accidents in Majorca yesterday. Five people were injured in the first accident which involved two vehicles and occurred at 6.15am in the Inca-bound carriage way of the Palma to Inca motorway. Three 061 ambulance teams, a unit of paramedics, the Guardia Civil and fire fighters rushed to the scene prepared for the worst. One of the vehicles involved was a van carrying five passengers, four, including the little girl who, despite having suffered only minor injuries, was taken to Son Dureta hospital. A 31-year-old woman was also taken to Son Dureta hospital while a 65-year-old man and another 30-year-old woman, both travelling in the van, were taken to Son Dureta and the Clinica Femenia. The fifth victim, an unidentified male, was taken to the Policlínica Miramar. The van was seriously damaged in the accident and one of the passengers had to be cut free from the wreckage by fire fighters from the Inca fire brigade. None of the people travelling in the second vehicle involved needed medical attention. Later, at mid-day, another two cars were involved in a head-on collision along the old Sineu road near Santa Eugenia. According to the Guardia Civil the cause of the accident has yet to be established but 061 ambulance crews and paramedics were unable to save the victim at the scene of the crash.
