BALEARIC president Jaume Matas and his vice-president Rosa Estaras (pictured) both sprung to the defence of their Interior Minister yesterday but they were unable the silence those calling for Rodriguez to resign. Leader of the Balearic opposition, Francesc Antich, yesterday questioned the credibility of Rodriguez we've heard so many lies now, I no longer believe anything, Antich said. Revelations of Rodriguez's phone being tapped as part of the investigation into who tipped Hidaglo off added further fuel to opposition calls for him to either step down or for Jaume Matas to, quite simply, sack him. The PSM Majorca Nationalist Party claim the whole saga is extremely suspicious considering, as Interior Minister, Rodriguez is responsible for security and in direct with the police forces.
