THE removal men moved in to Son Dureta yesterday ahead of the transfer of patients to the new Son Espases hospital today.
A major police operation is going to be mounted when a fleet of 25 ambulances and a coach will begin moving the 180 patients from Son Dureta's adult wing and 17 from the mental health department to Son Espases at 8am this morning.
It is estimated that an ambulance is going to cover the six kilometres which separates the two hospitals every three minutes and that the operation is not due to be completed until around 8pm this evening. The remaining patients will be moved over the next few days.
