Antich calls on politicians to stop fighting

THE President of the Balearics, Francesc Antich, used his Christmas cocktail party yesterday to call on all local politicians to bring an end to the fighting which has rocked the government this year.

The President said that the time has come for people to put their “personal interests” to one side and put the best interests of the general public and the electorate first.

He admitted that this year has been overshadowed by a series of political scandals but stressed that all of them date back to the previous legislatures.

Antich stressed that the public must not be allowed to forget the record amount of public investment and cooperation the Balearics has secured from central government in Madrid this year and the ambitious projects, such as the Palma tram and the reformation of Playa de Palma, which are being launched to improve the infrastructure and economy of the region.
