The five Britons and a Spaniard arrested on Saturday evening in raids on a number of properties in Calvia appeared in court yesterday.

Palma.—All of the six detainees were arrested as a result of  Operation Goldent and they were yesterday up  before a Palma magistrate under the suspicion of having allegedly been smuggling large quantities of drugs in to the island for distribution in Punta Ballena in Magalluf.
The National Police confirmed yesterday that a total of four properties were raided, including one in Cala Viñas where the alleged leader of the gang was   eventually arrested after apparently having rushed police with a machete in an attempt to avoid arrest.
