Government against Balearic oil prospecting

Palma.—British company Cairn Energy was given permission by the former Socialist Spanish government to prospect for oil and gas in Balearic waters  off Ibiza  while another British company, Spectrum Geo wants to search for deposits of oil and gas in an area covering twenty times the size of the Balearics to the north and east of the region.
