The opposition to oil and gas prospecting the Gulf of Valencia, between the east coast of Spain and Ibiza, is gaining momentum on a daily basis and yesterday, opponents called for the Balearic President to resign if he fails to have the permits granted to Scottish company Cairn Energy to prospect in the area by the former Socialist Spanish government, revoked.

Palma.—Yesterday, tour operators, hoteliers and captains  of industry came out  backing the Balearic president’s drive to have the permits cancelled and, as the Bulletin reported over the weekend, a small army of celebrities, including James Blunt, Jade Jagger, Siena Miller and Paris Hilton have backed the campaign to stop the prospecting.
 In fact, Paris Hilton tweeted her feelings no less than six times to her 12.5 million global twitter followers while rapper P. Diddy tweeted a picture of the campaign’s slogan to his 9.5 million followers.
