Palma.—The Vice-president of the Balearic government, Antonio Gomez, yesterday presented  the programme for this year’s Balearic Day celebrations and he said that two primary aims are to promote Balearic produce and gastronomy, but not only to the domestic market but also an international one.
This year will mark the 31st time Balearic Day has been celebrated and the government has decided that it can be used to help boost Winter tourism.

Restricted budget
Gomez admitted that the budget is still restricted due to the austerity plan but every step has been taken to make the maximum use of the 250,000 euros set aside for the celebrations this year.
Gomez explained that the public/private sector has been working closely together, especially with regards to staging gastronomic cook offs  and shows as well as sporting and popular events which every one can enjoy.
