Calvia.—Calvia is best known for its beaches and popular coastal resorts but now the council is busy promoting a greener side to the municipality; the Galatxo estate and natural park which accounts for almost 10 percent of Calvia´s total land mass.
The estate was purchased by the council in 2006 and over the last few years a whole series of restoration projects have taken place including the centuries old olive press and sun dial.
Calvia tourism council Eugenia Frau told the Bulletin this week that it was an ideal place to visit both in the Summer and Winter.
“I would invite residents and tourists alike to take a trip around the Galatxo estate. There are a number of walks to suit everyone and you will find an area rich in natural fauna and history,” she said.
