WINTER SALES FAILED TO LIFT HIGH STREET BLUES

The Winter sales, which officially drew to a close at the end of last month, were a big disappointment for the vast majority of small and independent retailers in Majorca and across Spain in general.

Palma.—With the sales due to end on 7 March, PIMECO, the association for small to medium sized businesses, yesterday reported that 77 percent of small retailers in Majorca claim to have failed to have hit their sales targets and that is despite an upturn in revenue during the final months of last year in comparison to the end of 2012.
Only ten percent of retailers claim to have enjoyed an increase in takings compared to the last Winter sales season.
