The British package holiday market to the Balearics may not have performed as well as last year, but the British have returned in force.Figures released yesterday by the Ministry for Tourism in Madrid reveal that, during the first six months of this year, a total of 6,288,847 foreign holiday makers came to the Balearics, 0.8 percent more than during the first half of last year.
And, despite there being some uncertainty in the sale of package holidays to the Balearics, in particular Majorca as the Bulletin reported yesterday, over the past three months in particular, the number of British visitors has out stripped the number of Germans and the British market is now the region’s most important.
But, during the first six months of this year, the number of British holiday makers coming to the Balearics rose by 40,000 while the once mighty German market contracted by 80,000.
