Palma.—Palma City Council was flooded with complaints from local residents last month, the majority of them about noise.
In total, 309 complaints were filed, 31.48 percent more than in June.
The opposition Socialist party on Palma Council criticised the lack of action by the local authority claiming “it’s the highest number of complaints registered over the last few years.
“Things are getting worse every day and the local people are unhappy about that,” Socialist spokesperson Jose Hila said.
Overall almost 70 percent of complaints were related to noise.
Complaints about the noise made on the street, inside people’s homes and bars amounted to 118.
76 complaints were related to noise made by pets and 20 to machinery, Emaya, the municipal refuse company receiving the blame for seven complaints. Palma residents also complained about the poor security levels, with a total of 35 complaints being filed.
