2.2 percent more foreign holiday- makers came to the Balearics  during the first eight months of  the year, according to the Ministry for Tourism and Industry.

Palma.—And, Majorca was  the most popular destination with the British, according to the Association of British Travel Agents and  demand this month is also reported to be high.
Majorca, Ibiza and Italy  were among the top holiday spots for Britons this summer but bookings to Brazil were down due to high prices sparked by the football World Cup.
Trips to Egypt also fell because of the political climate, according to a survey by travel company lowcostholidays.
The results came as UK travel organisation ABTA started its annual travel convention in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
The survey said Italian bookings increased due to “some great-value hotel deals”.
Majorca, up 68% on summer 2013, and Ibiza, up 46%, were the most popular destinations for Britons this summer, followed by Turkey and Greece. Malta and Morocco also did well.
Long-haul destination favourites included Orlando in Florida, Mexico, Dubai and the Caribbean, with all these hotspots showing increases of more than 100% on summer 2013.
