It will come as no surprise to those people who were lying on the beach last weekend, last month was the warmest October on record in Spain.

Palma.—The National Meteorological Agency reported yesterday that the average temperature last month was 18.7ºC, 3.3ºC higher than the norm for October.
And, here in the Balearics, temperatures breached the 30ºC mark during the middle of the month.
What is more, October  was also much drier than usual.
Normal average rainfall is 69 litres per square metre, but last month, 16 percent less rain fell, 58 litres per square metre with the Balearics being one of the driest regions of the country with hardly any rainfall reported during the final two weeks of the month.
Previously, October 1995 had been the warmest on record with average temperatures of 18ºC, but average temperatures last month were nearly a full degree centigrade higher.
However, the weather has changed dramatically over the past few days thanks to a cold front which has been sweeping across Spain and the Balearics.
