Last week, shortcomings in the health service around the island were highlighted by medical staff and yesterday unions warned system could crash.

Palma.—The CCOO, General Workers’ Commission, yesterday forecast a collapse of  public services in the Balearics before the local elections in May.
Last week, medical staff across Majorca complained of a lack of resources and that local medical centres (PACs) in some areas were only able to function on a limited number of days per week.
The Balearic government put this down to an administrational error and resolved the problem but, the CCOO’s Toni Boas, has warned that public services will collapse before the May local elections, in fact he claimed that the crunch will come in March.
The union has launched a campaign to save public services called “It’s public, it’s yours, same them” and the union intends  to remind the general public about the importance of  defending   its right to basic public services such as health and education.
