Palma.—The newly appointed Balearic Minister for Education, Nuria Riera, was put in a rather embarrassing situation yesterday when union leaders failed to turn up for a meeting of the Education Commission.
The meeting went ahead without union representatives with the Minister proclaiming she is determined to push ahead with talks over working conditions and pay for teachers.
But, without any union participation in the debate, little ground was covered and certainly no advancement made in the negotiating process.
