Magalluf is once again under the spotlight, this time for...the lack of street lighting.
Calvia’s opposition Socialist party voiced the local community’s concerns yesterday. Apparently, there has not been any street lighting for over a week between Martinique square and Lope de Vega and Tirso de Molina streets and the only public park in the vicinities. “That area looks deserted,” a spokesman for the party said yesterday.
“Residents are afraid to walk in these areas after 6pm when it gets dark. This total lack of concern from the council is abysmal. Not only don’t they show any concern about solving the problem, but the residents’ complaints seem to fall on deaf ears all the time. It’s ridiculous that families cannot take their children to the park because they fear for their safety.”
