Majorca began to return to normal yesterday with most of the roads closed by the heavy snow reopened.First thing yesterday, the Council of Majorca reopened the road to the Formentor lighthouse which had been closed by a landslide, the road fromArta to Betlem and the road up to the Coll de Soller.
But, stretches of the Caimari to Lluc road remained closed along with certain stretches of the Pollensa to Lluc which remained closed after more snow fell overnight.
Efforts were also continuing to reach the 50 soldiers stranded at the Puig Major military base, although they have equipment and resources to endure three months in isolation and if needs be, a helicopter can always fly up there. But, despite the government’s plea for the general public to stay awayfrom the snowy mountains this weekend, few people took much notice and those who could get past or avoid the road blocks, flocked up for some fun in the snow.
