With an increase in private investment in the tourist industry, tourism experts want to discuss ways of lengthening the season. On Thursday, the second tourism convention of this kind will open at the Iberostar Son Antem resort and the main topic on the agenda is finding alternatives to sun and beach tourism in order to prolong the tourist season.
The convention has been organised by businessman Rafael Company who explained yesterday that there are now plenty of niches and specialist companies which have sufficient power to compete with the sun and beach market.
“What we now need to do is bring these companies together, create synergies and begin promoting alternative tourism,” he said.
The convention is going to involve all sectors of the local tourist industry from small businesses, to tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers and the main airlines.
