It appears that Britain is going to come abroad this summer and Majorca is proving to be the top destination.Reports emergeing from the UK holiday market have been encouraging right from the start of the year with a very early rush on holidays reported during the last two weeks of January and yesterday, TUI’s Hotelbeds confirmed that its main source markets for the key May to September period are the UK, Germany, Spain and the US.
What is more, Hotelbeds claims it is on track to outpace the industry this summer with an estimated 22% growth for global room night sales.
Bookings into Europe have increased by 32% year-on-year, with the top source markets being the UK, Germany, Spain and Ireland.
Spain remains the top global destination for this summer, with a 25% growth in bookings.
Spain is followed by the US and Greece, which is showing 54% growth.
Majorca, the Algarve, Benidorm and Crete are among the destinations most in demand while growth rates of more than 30% have been recorded for Italy, Croatia and Malta.
