After the forest fire of 2013 which caused serious damage to Andratx, Calvia and the Serra de Tramuntana, people are still nervous as summer approaches.

Palma.—On Thursday night, Andratx Council unanimously approved a motion to ask the Council of Majorca to set up a fire station in the area during the summer.
Less than two years ago, one of the worst forest fires in the history of Majorca ripped through the area causing widespread damage and the authorities are concerned that it could happen again and, if it does, they believe having a fire station near by would significantly reduce the time it will take to get fire fighters on the scene.
