The Quantum of the Seas became the largest ever cruise ship to visit Palma yesterday morning.Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas is not only the world’s first “smartship”, she is also the third largest cruise ship in the world.
The most modern cruise liner currently afloat, arrived in Palma from Cartagena on the mainland with 4,100 passengers on board and spent most of the day in port as she continues her ten-day Mediterranean voyage.
When she was launched last year, Quantum of the Seas was hailed as one of the most revolutionary liners.
Among the facilities on board are a parachute jump simulator, a pod which carries passengers as if flying above the ocean and the Seaplex, which is the largest floating entertainment accrued on the planet and includes bumper cars and a roller skating rink among the attractions.
The 2,800 cabins, many of which have sea views and balconies, are all highly modern and much larger than those found on board other cruise ships.
What is more, the Quantum of the Seas boasts what it calls ‘Dynamic dining’.
On board are 18 restaurants, each run by its own prestigious chef and offering a vast range of international cuisine.
