Google news Magalluf every morning and guaranteed a newspaper has a story on the on going antics in Punta Ballena.
More than likely, it will be one of the UK newspapers but, the interest, or obsession, is equally rife with the foreign press, especially the Italians.
Ten days ago, I spent a Sunday in Magalluf, enjoying the beach rugby tournament and the atmosphere on the sea front, which was brilliant.
The front line bars, restaurants and beach clubs are excellent. While I was sitting by a private pool admiring the view and enjoying the back ground music, I said to my friends we really could have been any where in the world and they all agreed.
OK, the critics will argue that it is a totally different case a couple of hundred metres back into the resort at night, but may be that is, as one elderly person I spoke to said, the reason young people come to Magalluf - there are resorts elsewhere in the world where youngsters of many other nationalities behave even worse, I’ve seen it myself.
But, that Sunday, as I expect it will be every day this summer, the sea front was alive and full of a mixture of people of all ages, including families, all having a wonderful relaxing time.
If the press want to send “undercover” photographers etc. back to Magalluf and more or less make up stories, well good luck to them, all they are doing is keeping the resort in the public eye and that will lead to more young people coming. So, ironically, thanks.
