The Balearics, along with the Canaries, yet again boast some of the best beaches in Europe and the world, according to the results of the Travellers Choice Beaches nominations staged every year by TripAdvisor.

Ses Illetes beach in Formentera was voted the best in Europe and the seventh best in the world while Playa de Lagunas y Playa del Coltillo and Playa del Cofete in Fuertaventura in the Canaries came in third and sixth in the European ranking and Cala Compte in Ibiza was voted the tenth best beach in Europe.

Playa de Muro in the north east of Majorca is considered the fourteenth best beach in Europe and the sixth best in Spain, just behind Calle Compte in Ibiza.

The rankings are compiled by TripAdvisor based on comments and points awarded every year by clients on their global websites.
